If 50 Cent ever decides to walk down the aisle, don’t expect an ordinary wedding reception. According to the rapper and entertainment mogul, he’s already got two performers in mind: Jay-Z and Kanye West!
But there’s one small condition when it comes to Kanye.
During an October 9 appearance on NBC’s TODAY show, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson was asked who he’d want to perform at his wedding.
His answer? Jay-Z!
And he wasn’t finished.
“Him, Kanye too,” 50 joked, before adding, “I’ll have Kanye if he’s not banned at the time.”
Now THAT would be one interesting wedding reception!
Of course, anyone familiar with 50 Cent knows he’s never been shy about taking shots at his fellow rappers, especially Jay-Z.
50 Cent Takes Another Shot at Jay-Z
While promoting his upcoming Street Fighter movie, 50 also sat down with comedian Andrew Schulz, his co-star in the film, for Interview magazine.
During their conversation, 50 discussed Jay-Z’s career, his marketing strategies, and how public perception can influence an artist’s success.
He specifically brought up Jay-Z’s past stadium performances with Eminem, suggesting that pairing the two artists helped elevate Jay-Z’s image.
50 acknowledged the effectiveness of the strategy, calling it great marketing.
The conversation also turned to Jay-Z’s signature hairstyle, with 50 offering his opinions on the Brooklyn rapper’s appearance.
Apparently, even when he’s promoting a Hollywood movie, 50 can still find time to talk about Jay-Z!
Remember 50 Cent vs. Kanye West?
Longtime hip-hop fans will remember the highly publicized 2007 album showdown between 50 Cent and Kanye West.
That September, Kanye’s Graduation and 50’s Curtis were released on the same day, setting up one of the biggest sales battles in hip-hop history.
Kanye ultimately won the first-week sales competition, but the rivalry helped generate enormous attention for both projects.
Nearly two decades later, 50 is still finding ways to work Kanye into the conversation.
From Hip-Hop to Hollywood
These days, 50 Cent has plenty to celebrate beyond music.
The rapper, actor, and television producer is preparing for his role as Balrog in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular video game Street Fighter.
During his TODAY appearance, he also discussed his documentary about Sean “Diddy” Combs, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, and his thoughts on relationships and marriage.
Interestingly, the wedding conversation came after 50 discussed performing at NBA star Tyrese Haliburton’s wedding.
But before anybody starts looking for invitations, there’s one important detail: 50 Cent hasn’t announced that he’s getting married.
The entire conversation was hypothetical, and his comments about Jay-Z and Kanye were clearly delivered with his trademark sense of humor.
Still, can you imagine the guest list?
Jay-Z onstage, Kanye waiting to see if he’s allowed inside, and 50 Cent somewhere in the corner laughing at everybody!
The real question is: If 50 Cent actually got married, do you think Jay-Z and Kanye would show up and perform?
