Lawyers for R. Kelly claim wrongdoing by prosecutors, say imprisoned singer’s life in danger

R. Kelly’s attorney has filed an emergency motion for temporary furlough, claiming that the singer’s life is in danger while in federal custody. The motion alleges that three Bureau of Prisons officials plotted to have Kelly killed by a fellow inmate. The inmate, Mikeal Glenn Stine A terminally ill inmate and Aryan Brotherhood gang leader claims in a declaration that he was approached to carry out the plot but decided to inform Kelly instead. Kelly’s attorney argues that his client’s life is at risk and that he should be placed on home detention for his safety. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence for multiple charges, including racketeering and sexual exploitation of children.
