Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the new FL law license plate law on May 19 and it went into effect on Oct. 1. Under this 2025 Florida statute, if anything blocks or alters a vehicle’s driver’s license plate, drivers can be fined or receive jail time. But the law had many drivers asking questions.
Well now the FLHSMV has released an update on the law. It states - To avoid a fine, the license plate number and registration sticker must be in clear view. Frames surrounding the information on the license plate are permitted.
