Five Things to Look Forward to in June

New week, new month! Here’s what’s on deck in June . . .

1. In sports: The Stanley Cup Finals start tomorrow, and the NBA Finals get going on Wednesday. The French Open tennis tournament runs through June 7th. The FIFA World Cup gets under way on June 11th, and the U.S. team takes on Paraguay on the 12th.

Golf’s U.S. Open is June 18th through the 21st. And the UFC-White House event, “UFC Freedom 250”, is going down June 14th.

2. The first official day of summer is June 21st. That also happens to be Father’s Day this year.

3. A ton of movies are hitting theaters: “Masters of the Universe” comes out this Friday . . . and so does “Scary Movie 6”. Steven Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day” will be released on the 12th. “Toy Story 5” is out June 19th. And “Supergirl” and “Jackass: Best and Last” both hit theaters June 26th.

4. On TV and streaming: New seasons of “America’s Got Talent” and “Love Island” hit NBC and Peacock tomorrow night. Season 5 of “Sweet Magnolias” comes to Netflix on June 11th.

Season 3 of “House of the Dragon” will be on HBO on the 21st. Season 2 of the live-action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” hits Netflix on June 25th. And the fifth and final season of FX’s “The Bear” will premiere on June 25th.

If you’re into awards shows and music specials, there are a few that should be on your radar: “The 79th Tony Awards” on June 7th . . . “The BET Awards” on June 28th . . . and “CMA Fest”, which will air on ABC June 25th and Hulu the following day.

5. And finally, the holidays: The big ones are Father’s Day on the 21st, and Juneteenth on the 19th. Also, it’s Pride Month. And we’re gearing up for America’s big 250th birthday in July.

A few more: National Best Friends Day is June 8th . . . Flag Day is on the 14th . . . the 19th is National Martini Day . . . and National Selfie Day is June 21st.
