Hillsborough County to install vape detectors in all high schools

According to reports from the Food and Drug Administration, over 1.6 million middle and high school students use some sort of e-cigarette. In order to crack down on the use of vapes in school, the Hillsborough County School District is installing vape detectors in all high schools in the district.

These HALO Smart Sensors are able to detect all types of vape, including tobacco and marijuana, as well as vape masking products. Once detected, faculty are alerted to the location when the sensors are triggered.

District administrators say the devices monitor and alert but do not record. More on the story here.
