Pasco County Opioid Taskforce

Florida received a $3 billion settlement from opioid manufacturers, distributors, and dispensers, which is being used to combat addiction in communities like Pasco County. The Pasco County Opioid Taskforce and University of South Florida are working together to address the ongoing opioid crisis. Despite a decrease in overdoses in Pasco County, the issue of addiction to painkillers persists, requiring long-term efforts to see progress. The partnership aims to identify barriers to access and focus efforts on areas that need improvement, with a focus on strategic spending of funds to make a lasting impact. Community input is being sought through public meetings and an online survey to guide future initiatives in addressing opioid addiction. They are holding two meetings on March 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Zephyrhills City Hall and April 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Starkey Ranch Theatre Library Cultural Center to listen to public feedback on what should change.
