The sudden passing of Councilwoman Gwendolyn Henderson back in June left her seat vacant, and now 15 candidates have qualified for the special election happening today.
Here are some quick facts on today’s election.
- District 5 includes downtown, East Tampa, Ybor City and parts of West Tampa
- For a candidate to win today, they need to get 50% +1 of the vote
- If no candidate secures enough votes today, the top two vote-getters will head to a run-off election on October 28th
- Voting locations will be open from 7a - 7p today.
