Two Candidates Remain For Open Tampa District 5 City Council Seat

The unofficial results are in and it looks like former county commissioner Thomas Scott and nonprofit executive Naya Young are the last two candidates standing. In an election that had 14 candidates on the ballot Scott finished with 27.07% of the vote and Young with 13.29% respectfully.

Since neither candidate finished with at least 50% of the vote, a runoff will be held on Oct 28. Early voting is slated to begin October 23-26.

Voter turnout was rather low with only 5,394 ballots cast out of 45,079 registered voters. That’s just under 12%.
