Congresswoman Luna Slams ‘Corruption’ in Rap After Nicki’s Plea

Nick SZA Luna

Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna is taking a public stand after rapper Nicki Minaj called for help regarding an alleged threat made during a livestream by DJ and streamer MackWop — a known associate of Top Dawg Entertainment. The comment, referencing Minaj during an ongoing online feud with singer SZA, sparked concern and prompted Minaj to alert both the FBI and CIA on social media.

Minaj reposted the clip and directly asked, “Is this a threat?” She later tagged the FBI and wrote, “I want this man investigated right away.”

In a follow-up post, she called out to Rep. Luna:

“This man just publicly threatened me... I want this thug locked up [and] I’m ready to talk about everything these people have done to me.”

Rep. Luna quickly responded, confirming she had spoken to Minaj and promised action:

“We take threats of violence and assassination very seriously... I am deeply concerned that there has been unchecked corruption within certain aspects of the rap industry. Artists should be respected and not afraid of managers, labels, etc.”

The situation comes amid an escalating social media feud between Minaj and SZA, and speculation about tensions involving major industry players, including Top Dawg Entertainment and Young Money.

Notably, Rep. Luna previously made headlines for advocating for Tory Lanez’s release, following his conviction for shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion — a stance that stirred controversy.

As Minaj continues to speak out, the conversation around artist safety and power dynamics within the music industry is heating up. Neither Nicki Minaj nor SZA’s representatives have publicly commented further.
