Diddy Files Motion for Acquittal or New Trial, Says Mann Act Doesn’t Apply to Him

Diddy’s lawyers are seeking to have his recent convictions overturned or to secure a new trial based on the argument that the century-old Mann Act should not have been applied in his case. The Mann Act deals with the transportation of people for prostitution, but Diddy’s legal team contends that he did not violate the law as he did not engage in sex with the prostitutes, profit from the prostitution, or arrange transportation. They argue that the events in question could be considered “amateur pornography” and thus protected by the First Amendment. A ruling on this matter is pending, with Diddy currently in jail awaiting sentencing scheduled for October.
