Rapper Offset is in stable condition after being shot outside a South Florida casino Monday night, according to his spokesperson.

The former Migos member—born Kiari Kendrell Cephus—was transported to a nearby hospital following the incident. Authorities say his injuries are not life-threatening.

Police report the shooting happened after a fight broke out at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, just north of Miami. Officers detained two individuals at the scene as the investigation continues.

One of those detained was rapper Lil Tjay, who was arrested in connection to the altercation leading up to the shooting. He faces charges of disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license. His attorney stated he did not possess a weapon and was not charged with any gun-related offenses. He has since posted bond and been released.

Authorities have not officially identified the shooting victim, though details align with Offset’s involvement. A second individual detained has not been charged, and investigators are still working to determine who else may have been involved.

A Troubling Pattern in Hip-Hop

The incident comes more than three years after the tragic death of Offset’s cousin and fellow Migos member Takeoff, who was shot and killed in Houston in 2022.

Takeoff’s death was part of a series of high-profile shootings involving hip-hop artists, including Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, PnB Rock, and Young Dolph.

In response, fellow Migos member Quavo has pushed for anti-gun violence efforts, including hosting a summit in 2024 aimed at addressing the issue.

Offset’s Career and Legacy

Offset rose to fame as part of Migos, one of the most influential rap groups of the 2010s. The trio helped redefine modern hip-hop with their signature triplet flow and chart-topping hits like “Bad and Boujee,” “Stir Fry,” and “T-Shirt.”

As a solo artist, Offset has continued to build his brand with projects like Father of Four (2019), Set It Off (2023), and Kiari (2025), showcasing a blend of melodic delivery and high-energy lyricism.

Off the mic, Offset was previously married to Cardi B. The couple wed in 2017 and share three children. Cardi B filed for divorce in 2024.

Investigation Ongoing

Police say the shooting occurred in a valet area outside the casino. While one person was injured, officials have not confirmed additional victims. No weapons charges have been announced at this time.

The investigation remains active as authorities work to piece together exactly what led to the violence.
