TSA employees at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport were given gift cards by Tyler Perry to help them during the government shutdown, but were later told to return them due to federal rules prohibiting direct cash gifts. Perry’s team worked with airport management to find a way to help, eventually distributing gift cards worth $1,000 each to the workers. However, the airport’s federal security director later flagged the distribution, leaving employees in a difficult situation as some had already spent the money on necessities. The employees continue to work without pay, unable to accept community support due to red tape.
