James Cameron has revealed that Zoe Saldaña and Kate Winslet play multiple characters in the Avatar franchise. The recent release of Avatar: Fire and Ash in the United States by 20th Century Studios continues the story with Saldaña reprising her role as Neytiri and Winslet as Ronal. Cameron explained during The Hollywood Reporter’s Director Roundtable that both actresses have portrayed multiple characters throughout the franchise using performance capture technology. He praised the versatility of the actors in the performance capture troupe, who seamlessly transition between various roles. The first two Avatar movies are available on Disney+, with Avatar 3 currently in theaters.
