The fires in L.A. have people googling the top things to have in a “go bag” in case you ever need to evacuate fast. Here are the top things they say to pack in case something ever happens and you need to leave fast.

1. Food and water. A three-day supply of non-perishable food, plus three gallons of water per person.

2. A map. Have at least two evacuation routes planned out.

3. Medications. And replace them in your go bag before they expire.

4. Clothes. At least one change of clothes, plus some old glasses or contacts.

5. Car keys. Toss your extra set in there, just in case.

6. Money. Put some cash in the back, and maybe a credit card or two.

7. A first aid kit. And any sanitation supplies you might need.

8. A flashlight. Also, a battery-powered radio and extra batteries.

9. Copies of important documents. Things like birth certificates or passports.

10. Pet food. And extra water that’s just for them.

That’s the stuff they say to have ready NOW. If you have time and don’t need to leave right away, they suggest grabbing these four things first.

Valuables that are easy to pack or carry . . . family photos, or stuff you can’t replace . . . your computer . . . and any chargers you might need.
