In 2003, Jay-Z released his iconic “Black Album” and opened the 40/40 Club in New York City’s Flat Iron district, combining luxury sports bar and nightclub elements. The club’s success led to additional locations across the country, attracting celebrities and influencers. Despite the closure of some locations, the flagship club closed in July 2023 after 20 years but plans to reopen in a new location in 2025.

The recent pop-up event in 2024 for Fanletics Fest showcased the club’s original vibe, featuring throwback jerseys, champagne towers, and a menu inspired by the original offerings. “It’s always been the plan to open a new spot,” Sheldon Robinson, vice president of operations at 40/40 Club, told Us Weekly. “Finding the right location that makes sense to the brand is key, and that takes some time. We’ve narrowed it down to our last few choices, and now we’re in the negotiation phase.”
