It’s St. Patrick’s Day, and if you aren’t wearing green you might want to change immediately. Unless you’re already out of the house, then please refrain from stripping in public.

Here are a few St. Patrick’s Day quick hits:

1. St. Patty’s Day with two Ts and St. Paddy’s Day with two Ds . . . aren’t totally interchangeable. One is more correct, according to Merriam-Webster.

St. Paddy’s Day with Ds is generally considered more accurate, because the name Patrick is traditionally spelled “Pádraig” with the nicknames “Páidín” and “Paddy.” Also, the name Patty with Ts is usually short for Patricia.

It’s worth pointing out: Some could also argue against using St. Paddy’s Day because “Paddy” can be considered a derogatory English term for an Irish person. But a negative connotation like that probably wouldn’t come out when using it to reference the holiday. Or just call it “St. Patrick’s Day.”

2. WalletHub has a list of the “Best Cities for St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations” . . . and the Top Five are: Boston (naturally) . . . Reno, Nevada . . . Savannah, Georgia . . . Overland Park, Kansas . . . and Henderson, Nevada.

Of the 200 cities they considered, Paterson, New Jersey came in dead-last, followed by Brownsville, Texas and Bellevue, Washington.

3. In 1962, Chicago used 60 pounds of green dye to become the first city to successfully dye its river bright green on St. Patrick’s Day.

4. Today is also National Corned Beef and Cabbage Day.
