HYUNDAI RECALL

Hyundai and Kia recall over 280K SUVs due to fire risk On Aug. 23, both Kia and Hyundai issued a “stop sale” for unsold vehicles at dealerships.

Hyundai is halting sales of certain SUVs and planning a recall after a tragic incident involving a 2-year-old girl who died when she was allegedly pinned between the power folding seats in her parents’ Hyundai Palisade. The company warns that the power folding seats in certain models may fail to detect contact with occupants or objects. About 68,500 vehicles could be affected, and Hyundai is working with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on the planned recall. Hyundai is also considering offering rentals for affected owners and working on an over-the-air interim software update to address the issue.
