Mississippi Middle Schoolers Save Bus Driver

Five middle schoolers jumped into action to save their bus driver, 46-year-old Leah Jackson, after she had an asthma attack while driving.

  • Jackson Casnave (6th Grade): Grabbed the steering wheel to keep the bus on the road.
  • Darrius Clark (6th Grade): Hit the brakes to stop the moving vehicle.
  • Destiny Cornelius (8th Grade): Assisted in giving the driver her medication.
  • Kay’Leigh Clark (8th Grade): Called 911.
  • McKenzy Finch (8th Grade): Relayed the emergency to the school district.

Thanks to their quick actions, all 40 students on the bus were safe and their driver recovered.
