U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor has allocated over $575,000 in federal funding to the Riverview-based youth program, ‘Project I Can,’ which aims to mentor and support young people aged 12 to 20. The program, operated through Mt. Zion AME Church, focuses on providing mentorship, education, and career guidance to at-risk youth in Hillsborough County. With the new funding, the program can expand its outreach and restart previously paused initiatives, helping more young people in need of support and guidance. ‘Project I Can’ has already assisted around 200 young individuals in graduating high school and is currently seeking volunteer mentors to further its impact in the community.
