Rabies alert issued in Polk County after cat attacks

According to reports from Polk County Animal Control, a stray cat testing positive for rabies bit five people and attacked a puppy in the Glen Road area in Lakeland.

A rabies alert has been issued for the next 60 days and includes the following boundaries:

  • Northern boundary: Chart Prine Road
  • Southern boundary: West Bella Vista St.
  • Eastern boundary: Gardner Road
  • Western boundary: Shady Oak Drive East
