Now “former” St. Pete policer officer Ramon Ortega has been fired after being found “negligent” with department property. This stems from an incident that happened on Dec. 30, 2024 when his duty belt was found near a dumpster behind the Village Lake Shopping Center in Land O’ Lakes.
The St. Pete Police Department Equipment Room later confirmed that the missing belt belonged to Ortega. According to a department spokesman the belt contained “a department-issued holster, handgun, magazines, Taser, and other items.”
